Matthew 22:36-40...Actionable Instructions...
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Over the past several decades we have heard about the struggles of many towns and cities in regard to the display of the Ten Commandments. The fight has gone back and forth and has risen as high as our Supreme Court. Although we as Christians fall on the side of making these commandments public the greater question is how well do we follow the instruction and meaning of them? When asked about the greatest commandment Jesus relied with the instructions listed above. Love God and Love your neighbor. This boils the commandments down to actionable instructions, meanwhile how are we doing with these commandments? Viewing the climate of unrest and contention that exists in our towns and cities today it would be safe to say that we are failing. The world needs more of “loving your neighbor” and less of “me first”. Love your Lord God more, Love yourself less and Love your neighbor as much as yourself, instructions for Christ filled life.
