1 Peter 3:8-9...Blessings, Not Insults...

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.  Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

Read the latest headlines or listen to the latest news and most of what you hear is the back and forth of retaliation. One group is set out to get back at another and the vicious cycle never seems to end. We have been called to be the stop-gap in this cycle. To restrain from repaying evil with evil. Even more we are instructed to repay evil with a blessing. That is a tough one, yet our mind-set should be in this fashion. We are a light in this dark world showing the way to Jesus and we must be diligent in our calling. Love your enemies and pray for those that treat you unfairly. Show compassion and mercy at every opportunity so that you might lead others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
