Matthew 7:7-11...Be the First...
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
I love the promise and the comparison of earthly fathers and our Heavenly Father in this passage. Although there are many fathers that do not live up to the designation given them the overwhelming majority will do their very best to provide what is asked of them by their children. Comparatively, God is poised to provide for His children and promises the very same here. We simply need to ask, seek or knock to find the answers. We know how to give to our children and we know how to treat others according to the Golden Rule, as mention above. Yet we fall short in the application of this practice. Imagine if everyone were to apply this rule to their lives everyday! Oh my, it would be so marvelous! Remember that in order for everyone to be on track it begins with you. Don’t wait on someone else to treat you well, get things started in your walk with Jesus…
