Matthew 4:18-20...Answer The Call...
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.
As Jesus began His ministry He was recruiting His disciples (or apostles). What is worth noticing during this time is the immediate response of those to whom He ask the question. They left what they were doing, the people they were with and the life that they were accustomed to living to follow Jesus and to share the message of hope and love. Their hearts had been prepared and when the Master called they responded. How are we at answering the call of Christ? Are we putting Christ first in all that we do? Often we fall short of our objective. Our purpose in life is to praise and honor Christ above everything else and share the gospel message of salvation with everyone we meet. Although it is a simple task it seems at times to be difficult to remember. Even with all that God has provided each of us and the beauty that He surrounds us with everyday, we tend to fall short. Pray that this year you may be more sensitive to the calling of God on your life and that you might aspire to follow Him more closely everyday.
