Exodus 17:2-3...Quit Complaining, Start Rejoicing...

So they quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water to drink.”Moses replied, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you put the Lord to the test?”But the people were thirsty for water there, and they grumbled against Moses. They said, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?”

The people of Moses day had just been released from bondage. Fo many years their everyday circumstances were of hardship, toil and demanding labor. Their oppressors were harsh and ruthless leaving the Israelites to wonder if they had been forgotten and left to die at the hands of the Pharaoh. As bad as this oppression was on them, soon after their emancipation they started grumbling about their circumstances to Moses. It is typical, even today, to complain about our lot in life or the trials that we face. We often forget all that God has done for us whenever we get in these sticky situations. That being said, it is always a good idea to pause and remember all that God has brought you through, all that He has blessed you with and most of all how much He loves you and protects you. Keeping these remembrances in front of you will strengthen you in the hard times and give you peace.
