But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying for the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.

Jonah was no different than any of us. Convinced by his own mind that God would deal with Nineveh without his intervention, Jonah headed in the opposite direction. Sometimes we do not see where we fit into God’s overall plans and we are quick to head in the wrong direction, but as we know God has a way to bring us around. Just as He did with Jonah, God will ultimately prevail. Pray that you are receptive of God’s plan and willing to follow accordingly.
