John 20:19-20...His promise is true..
"On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, 'Peace be with you!' After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord."
Having just experienced the unconceivable tragedy of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the disciples were afraid for their own lives, as they had been faithful followers. Even though Jesus had foretold each of these events, including how they would unfold, the disciples were still caught by surprise and were now huddled together behind closed doors, consoling each other and wondering what would be their next move. I truly love the display of supreme power over everything here as Jesus came and stood among them, even though the doors were locked, He overcame all obstacles to assure His disciples that what He promised had been fulfilled. The summation of all of these events was for one purpose only, our individual salvation. Transformed from sin and separation from God to eternal life through Jesus Christ. The knowledge of this makes me feel the same as the disciples, overjoyed, each time that I think of what Jesus did for me and for you. Thank you Lord!
